nála - exhibition

Nála Exhibition is based on Nála – A Knight’s Tale, a children's book by Eva Þengilsdóttir. The book, which was published by Salka in October 2014, was nominated for the Icelandic Literature Prize.

The exhibition Nála was held at the National Museum of Iceland from January until March 2015. It was very well received and has now been awarded a grant from the Children’s Cultural Fund to bring it to other parts of Iceland. It opened in the Saga Center in Hvolsvöllur on May 5th 2015 and stayed open for seven weeks. In October same year it opened in Akureyri and in November in Egilsstaðir. From there it went to Akranes, where it stayed open from January - March 2016. Thousands of people have visited and participated in the exhibition.

Guests are encouraged to participate and create – thereby putting their mark on the exhibition, through pattern making and sewing. No one is too small to make a difference – by sewing a stitch or rotating a block on the pattern table you change the exhibition a little bit and how the next person perceives it.

Guests are invited to draw their own patterns on a 90 meters by 50 cm long paper roll and thus help make a huge wall hanging.
